CTC Participates in the "Winter Facilities Development Forum"

Beijing, China— The “Winter Sports Facilities Development Forum” was held in Beijing Weituo Design Mansion, on September 18th, 2015. The event aimed to exchange perspectives of architectural design and project development, discuss how to design outstanding ice and snow facilities adapted to China and its conditions, and exchange ideas on how to improve the quality of winter sports facilities for Chinese people.

Mr. Johnny Wu, Vice-President of Sales at CTC, was invited to the conference as speaker. With more than 12 years of experience in the development of ice and snow industry in China, Mr. Wu is recognized as one of the experts in this field.

In his speech, Mr. Wu first analyzed the current situation of the ice and snow facilities in China from a technical point of view and how this can affect the performance of the athletes and the development of winter sports in the country. He finalized by exposing the best practices and methods to improve the situation and to provide high-end venues to the population in China, using energy efficiency and environmentally friendly solutions

Our partner company for the operation of ice and snow facilities, Hospitality Associates Asia Limited was also invited to the forum. Mr. John Jeakins, CEO at HAA, exposed the whole picture of the ice and snow industry in China and the projections of the growing market, also focusing on how to operate an ice and snow facility in order to provide an excellent experience to the users and attract more people to practice winter sports.

Mr. Jeakins has over 30 years hospitality management experience in North America, Europe and Asia, and is specialist in the operation of winter sports facilities.

In total, 120 people attended the conference. Among the participant there were representatives from the Chinese national sports industry, related ministries and commissions, culture and tourism real estate developers, commercial real estate developers, ice and snow equipment manufacturers, project management teams as well as media representatives.

As the 2022 Winter Olympics will be held in Beijing, the ice and snow industry will surely blossom in China for the next 7 years. The importance now is to ensure a sustainable growth in order to provide the greatest benefits to the Chinese population and in respect of the environment.
