The Montreal Canadiens Alumni Program in China: A Great Success

Beijing, China -- The first Montreal Canadiens Alumni Program in China, presented and organized by the CTC Group successfully concluded last Sunday, January 17th. For 10 days, the Alumni Legends, Steve Shutt, Gaston Gingras, Patrice Brisebois and Mathieu Dandenault, visited Beijing along with a delegation from the Montreal Canadiens. Their agenda included the Hockey School, visits to the most iconic places in the city, reception at the Canadian Embassy, media appearances and a whole cultural immersion.

The Alumni Legends arrived in Beijing on January 7th, officially kicking-off the Montreal Canadiens Alumni Program in China.

The Alumni Legends and the delegation had the chance to visit the most iconic places in Beijing such as the Great Wall of China and the Tiananmen Square, accompanied with Youppi, the mascot of the Montreal Canadiens.

The first camp of the Montreal Canadiens Hockey School started on January 9th. Three more camps ran during their stay for a total of 8 trainning sessions, with a participation of more than 115 kids from 6 to 16 years old.

A reception was held in the Canadian Embassy in Beijing on Jan 13th, to welcome the Montreal Canadiens Alumni Players. The Canadian Ambassador, Mr. Guy Saint-Jacques declared in his speech "The Canadian people are longing to share the experience and excitement of winter sports with our Chinese friends."

They visited the CTC Beijing office on January 15th, and shared ideas with CTC's management team from different perspectives about ice hockey growth in China and how to provide the optimal infrastructure and programs for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games.

January 16th was the last stop of this 10-days program. The Canadiens Alumni visited the Beijing National Stadium, also known as the Bird's Nest, played an exhibition game at the Pond Hockey Tournament against a local team.

Covered by more than 15 domestic and foreign media, in 3 languages, Chinese, English and French, the first Montreal Canadiens Alumni Program in China attracted worldwide attention. Thanks to all the media for attending the events and reporting the news about this historic program presented by CTC.
